Neuroscience has recently shown how philosophical reflection on great themes can activate the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) which works as a bridge between cognitions and emotions. It plays an important role in the processes of emotional regulation and decision-making. Therefore, the activity of philosophical thinking allows improving the skill to identify goals and strategies, to have a clear vision of oneself, and to structure effective action plans. In other words, philosophy can improve your skills, your job satisfaction, and how you feel about life!
The course aims to bring professionals from different backgrounds closer to philosophical reflection. Special attention will be paid to the positive function of philosophy for the development of excellent leadership skills. It will develop awareness to the critical method, fundamental for a dynamic understanding of the world, strongly rooted in rational thinking. You’ll learn to structure new ways of thinking that can guide through the stream of life!

- Philosophy: what it is, why it is fundamental today. Examples of successful contemporary leaders and managers graduated in philosophy
- The fundamentals of logical reflection and method, between syllogisms and creativity
- Critical thinking: open your mind
- Thinking about the origin of ethics
- Shift of thought, shift of life; how thought guides your choices and how you perceive yourself and the world
- Constructive debate: learn to motivate and support your reasons
- Open your mind to new perspectives, reading art in a philosophical key
Who is the Coach?
Elena Porzio is a philosophy and education professor. She has earned a PhD in Philosophy, and a First Level Postgraduate Degree in Counselling. Furthermore, she is a Certified Expert Trainer in Critical thinking.
Elena has worked in the education of both children and adults in her teaching career. She has also taught in professional training courses for teachers about new teaching skills, and IT and education.
She strongly believes that critical thinking is crucial for the integral development of each individual’s potential; her passion has been helping professionals from different fields to develop this skill, especially using facilitators as contemporary art, music, and maieutic dialogue.
